Kelowna RCMP say a man with a knife was arrested after he chased a stranger down the street early Thursday morning.

Police responded to a 911 call around 12:30 a.m. after reports that a man with a knife was chasing another man in the 300 block of Highway 33.

RCMP searched the area and quickly located someone that matched the description of the suspect.

“Officers located an intoxicated individual matching their suspect’s description, not far from the scene. He was taken into police custody without further incident,” Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey said in a news release. “A search of the suspect, incidental to his arrest, resulted in the seizure of two knives.”

The victim, a Kelowna man in his 20s, was not injured.

The 30-year-old suspect was held in police custody overnight and may face charges related to the incident.
