The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy and the Interior Health Authority have issued an end to the air quality advisory in a north Okanagan community.
The advisory was issued Nov. 6 for Lavington, east of Vernon because of an unusually large amount of fine airborne particulates.
The advisory was expanded to include Vernon on Nov.7.
The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy said that changing weather conditions have improved the air quality in parts of the north Okanagan.
The air quality advisory remains in place for Vernon.
“Persons with chronic underlying medical conditions should postpone strenuous exercise until the advisory is lifted,” an earlier news release stated. “Staying indoors and in air-conditioned spaces helps to reduce fine-particulate exposure. Exposure is particularly a concern for infants, the elderly and those who have diabetes and lung or heart disease.”
