N.S. man arrested in N.B. after RCMP find 20,000 contraband cigarettes

A 69-year-old man from Oxford, N.S., has been arrested in connection with a seizure of illegal cigarettes. RCMP

New Brunswick RCMP have arrested a Nova Scotia man in connection with a large seizure of illegal cigarettes.

Police say they stopped a 69-year-old man from Oxford during a traffic stop on Highway 2 in Hartland on Thursday afternoon.

RCMP say 20,000 contraband cigarettes were seized during the traffic stop.

The man, whose name has not yet been released, was released from custody on a promise to appear in Woodstock Provincial Court on Jan. 30, 2018.
