So, it’s the time of year when those who wish to, roll up their sleeve and get a flu shot.

It’s not often you get something worthwhile for free. Some say the cost is still too high.

I expect to get calls telling me flu shots can give you autism or memory loss or Alzheimer’s.

Some say flu shots don’t work and you still get sick, or it’s just promoted by the drug companies that make all the money.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

Yet, 1,600 people were hospitalized in Alberta last year with the flu, and more than 60 died.

I get a shot every year and I’ve never had the flu.

Some say they’ve never had the flu either and they’ve never had a shot so why should they start now?

Australia has just finished its flu season and reports say it was bad and that the experts think ours will be, too.

I always wonder when people have the flu and  phone in sick to the boss, if they are asked if they had a flu shot.

Would they feel guilty saying, “No.”

To me, that’s sort of like being responsible for a collision and telling the police you have no insurance.
