RCMP in New Brunswick say human remains discovered last month on Gagetown Island have been identified as a Fredericton woman.

The remains were found by a boater on the island in the Jemseg area on Sept. 19.

Police say an analysis confirms the remains are those of a 44-year-old Fredericton woman who was last seen on Jan. 21.

They say foul play has been ruled out in this case.
