Obscenity filled argument between construction worker and Halifax pedestrian caught on video

A video captured a heated and obscenity-filled argument between a construction worker and a pedestrian on Halifax’s Quinpool Road Tuesday morning.

According to the video, the argument began after the pedestrian allegedly ignored construction signs indicating that the sidewalk was closed.

“I understand perfectly but there’s no road here,” the pedestrian is recorded saying, indicating the construction vehicles. “And I have to go all the way over there.”

Most of the conversation is hard to make out but the discussion soon devolves into an argument with the construction worker attempting to convince the pedestrian that the street is closed for his own protection.

The men then trade obscenities as the pedestrian walks off and the video ends.

According to James Campbell,  a spokesperson for Halifax Water, the construction worker is part of a company contracted to do work for the utility service.

“We think that it’s deplorable that someone use that language, to a citizen or anyone else,” said Campbell, in an interview on Tuesday.

Campbell says that even though the resident appears to have walked through an active construction site, Halifax Water doesn’t condone the worker’s actions.

He confirmed that the utility had reached out to the contractor and communicated to them that the actions of its employee was unacceptable.

“We’ll leave it to the contractor to address that,” Campbell said before reminding citizens that those signs are for their protection and their safety.
