Calgary Hitmen edge Kelowna Rockets

The Calgary Hitmen defeated the Kelowna Rockets 4-3 on Friday night at Prospera Place in Kelowna.

Mark Kastelic got the Hitmen on the board first 4:36 in to the opening frame. Halfway through the period Nolan Foote evened things up for the Rockets with his second of the year and the score stayed at 1-1 for the remainder of the period.

Midway through the second Calgary collected goals Hunter Campbell(2) and Jakob Stukel(5) two minutes apart to reclaim the lead but Kyle Topping(3) would reply for Kelowna just 1:31 later. The Hitmen held a 3-2 lead heading into the final stanza.

With 8:11 to go in the contest Cael Zimmerman(1) scored to pull the Hitmen back ahead by two. Just under two minutes later Jack Cowell responded for Kelowna tucking in his fourth of the season on the power play to draw the Rockets within one once again. Despite a late push, the Hitmen held on for a 4-3 win.

Brodan Salmond falls to 3-2-0-1 stopping 22 of 26 shots he faced.

The Rockets record drops to 4-2-0-1 on the season.
