NBA super teams are ruining the league.  The comment comes from basketball icon Michael Jordan.

In an interview with Cigar Aficionado magazine, the NBA Hall of Famer and Charlotte Hornets owner said, “I think it’s going to hurt the overall aspect of the league from a competitive standpoint. You’re going to have one or two teams that are going to be great, and another 28 teams that are going to be garbage.”

The Golden State Warriors are the current poster boys in the NBA’s super team era.

Stef Curry and the Warriors have won two of the last three NBA championships and are favoured to win it all again this season.

The Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State’s opponents in the last three NBA Finals, also find themselves in that category along with Oklahoma City.

Doesn’t Jordan remember being on an NBA super team himself?

The 1995-96 Chicago Bulls were stacked and won a then-record 72 regular season games and the Larry O’Brien Trophy.

The Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers have had super teams in the past and the league still carried on.

Fans love watching two super teams square off, there’s no doubt about it.

But if you’re a fan of a team that has no shot of even making the playoffs, it makes for a long season.
