Winnipeg police arrested a man in possession of a sawed-off shotgun and methamphetamine during a bizarre incident Friday evening.
Officers say they attempted to arrest 29-year-old James Kelly Poole, who had outstanding arrest warrants, before he tried to escape.
According to police, Poole was riding a bicycle and pushing a second beside him when they arrived on scene. Poole attempted to flee, eventually throwing one of the bikes at the officers chasing him.
After police were able to arrest Poole, they located a sawed-off shotgun, ammunition, $400 of methamphetamine, and bolt cutters in his backpack.
Poole was detained in custody and is now facing eight charges, including offences related to armed robbery, resisting arrest, and possession of property obtained by crime.
