The manager of a Guelph business is facing fraud and theft charges after a two-year investigation by police.

In October 2015, the business, which has not been named, filed a complaint with police alleging the manager had been pocketing sales from transactions and altering business records, police said in a media release.

“An investigation was ongoing from that date and the company alleges that their employee had defrauded them of revenue and inventory worth over $380,000,” police said.

Following their investigation, officers arrested 38-year-old John Fabianiak on Wednesday.

He has been charged with fraud over $5,000 and theft by a person required to an account.

Fabianiak was released on a promise to appear in court on Oct. 31, 2017.

Anyone who may have information is asked to call Guelph police at 519-824-1212 ext. 7027.
