Do you ever watch the TV show Border Security? Border guards finding drugs in people, meat found in suitcases, weapons found in vehicles, money found in boats, nervous people attracting attention to themselves.

My favorite part is when they X-Ray the packages coming from other countries carrying contraband.

They send them off for investigation and I always wish we could know how those cases turn out.

That’s why I found it so interesting when a story appeared on our Broadcast News service about border guards intercepting a package from China containing fentanyl. The parcel was going to an address in Calgary.

Police would arrest one Kasimir Tyabji-Sandana.

The name probably means nothing to you, but it may in B.C.

The 29-year-old happens to be the son of Judy Tyabji, elected as B.C.’s youngest MLA at the age of 26 back in 1991. Her son goes to trial next April.

She is, of course, not responsible for what her adult son allegedly does, any more than the police officer is whose son committed murder.

It’s just another reminder to us that bad things happen in good families and they may need our support.
