Mike’s Monday Outlook: Could see some more heavy rain soon

Marcel Valiquette/submitted

While Winnipeg missed the last chance for heavy rain, not everyone fared the same. Friday night, Sprague had 45.6mm of rain while Winnipeg had roughly 10mm, according to Environment Canada.

The next chance for some heavy rain will come early this week. A front will be sweeping across southern Manitoba and the Interlake Tuesday and has the potential to leave some high amounts and possible thunderstorm activity.

Early indications show 30-50mm is possible for parts of the Interlake and around the Red River Valley. The numbers continue to fluctuate but these are the areas that are the most likely to see higher amounts.

For the rest of the week, while the system bringing this rain will linger in northern Manitoba, the south should stay dry while temperatures will cool off. Not that frost will be an issue but closer to normal rather than double figures.

The next chance for rain will likely be late in the week. Possibly Friday night but it doesn’t look it would be nearly as much rain falling.
