More than 24,000 people on Vancouver Island were without power Wednesday evening due to a wind storm sweeping through the region.
That number was reduced to 18,000 by 7 p.m., and declined over the evening as crews were able to restore power.
Most of the power was estimated to come back on at 11 p.m.
More than 7,000 people were also originally without power in the Lower Mainland, mainly in Langley and the Surrey / White Rock area. Power was estimated to come on between 7 and 8:30 p.m.
