Hamilton police are investigating a report of possible shots fired overnight.
This brings the total number of shooting incidents in Hamilton to 32 in 2017. Up from 22 in all of 2016. There have been eight in the month of September alone.
At about 3:00 a.m. on Sunday, police were called to the area of King Street East and East Avenue North.
Officers searched a back alley and found several shell casings.
Several residents said they overheard shots fired in the area and witnesses said they saw multiple vehicles fleeing the scene.
Police say it doesn’t appear that anyone was injured at this time. They add that there’s no evidence that this incident is related to other recent shootings.
