Emmett Guider said it’s cool, he now gets to play this season in front of seats that saw former Riders Quarterback Darian Durant win a grey cup.

“I’m looking forward to seeing how many people we can get out here… It’s just a great thing that these seats are here, and it’s cool that the riders used to use it in their stadium,” Guider said.

Three hundred seats were awarded to Swift Current Comprehensive, through the legacy project. All of the seats donated are from the north and south end zone sections.

Director of Education at the Chinook School Division Kyle McIntyre said between three and four hundred people will come to watch the Colts play.

“A lot of parents would be sitting on cold aluminium bleachers, or on the sidelines in lawn chairs. So to sit and enjoy a game in the comfort of seats that used to be at Taylor Field, is a pretty good gift,” McIntyre said.

The seats won’t just be used to watch football, the Western Canadian Summer Games are coming to Swift Current in 2019.

“I think they will have quite a different life-style than maybe they had at Mosaic Stadium, for us we see this as being a legacy in our community for probably another 15 or 20 years,” McIntyre said.
