CALGARY- More details are emerging about a fatal crash on 16 Avenue N.W. that killed a 63-year-old man, and caused major traffic backups during Tuesday’s commute home.
It happened just after 4 p.m. in the 2600 block of 16 Avenue. Police say a 36-year-old woman driving a Pontiac Aztek was heading eastbound when she lost control. The vehicle crossed the median, crashing head-on into a Ford F150.

The truck was then rear-ended by a GMC Sierra. The F150 then flipped onto its roof and slid into a large sign pole. The driver died at the scene, while the passenger suffered minor injuries.
Police say the driver of the Aztec also sustained minor injuries, while the driver of the Sierra was not injured.
An investigation is underway, and speed appears to be a factor in the crash, while alcohol has been ruled out.
Anyone with information about the collision is asked to call police.
