Body of missing Mission mom found, now a homicide investigation

There has been a tragic turn in the case of a missing Mission mother.

Investigators say the body of 18-year-old Rachel Pernosky was found yesterday in Chilliwack and the case is now a homicide investigation.

A passerby spotted the body down a steep embankment on Old Orchard Road. Search and Rescue was called out to help retrieve the body. Police do not know if she died there or if the body was dumped.

Pernosky was last seen at her home in the 7700-block of Kite Street at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday.

She has a one-year-old son who she was supposed to see over the past few days, but she did not show up.

Investigators say there are no suspects at this time; however, there are a number of persons of interest.
