LinkedIn website up and running after morning outages

TORONTO – Online resume and job search site LinkedIn is back up and running after experiencing intermittent outages Wednesday morning.

The company confirmed the outage in a tweet at approximately 8:30 a.m. ET stating, “We’re aware that the site is currently down, and our team is working on it right now.”

Nearly 30 minutes later the company tweeted a second message telling users that the issues had been cleared; but, at 9:20 a.m. LinkedIn tweeted that the site was experiencing issues again.

According to a report by technology website CNET after returning from the first outage the site’s users were still experiencing issues with inboxes being unavailable. Then later a second error message popped up telling users there was a “Gateway Timing Error.”

At around 10:45 a.m. the company tweeted that the site had been cleared of all issues and was running normally.

LinkedIn users took to social media to express their frustrations about the outage.

“It doesn’t happen often but #LinkedIn is down. Just when I need to reference it. Hoping its back soon,” tweeted Twitter user Jo Saunders (@JoAtWildfire).

Some users even expressed concerns about the website being hacked.

“Looks like @LinkedIn is down. Lets hope #linkedin isn’t being hacked again,” said Twitter user Danny Key (@Dannykey).
