Wildfire officials are unable to fight a small blaze burning near Keremeos because they just can’t get there.

“It’s hard for crews to access…the fire is burning on a steep slope,” wildfire information officer Jody Lucius said.

The K Mountain fire started Thursday night. It’s grown to seven hectares but isn’t threatening any homes or structures.

Wildfire aircraft were able to fly over the area earlier Friday to assess it, but smoke has been so heavy it hasn’t been safe for planes to fly since.
