Kelowna Rockets best Kamloops Blazers in preseason action

The Kelowna Rockets bested their regional rivals the Kamloops Blazers 6-4 Tuesday night in preseason action.

It was truly a team effort, with six different Rockets contributing goals to the win.

The Rockets’ Liam Kindree opened the scoring in the second period and the Blazers tied the game just 33 seconds later.

Leif Mattson, Gordie Ballhorn and Ted Brennan each netted a goal to give Kelowna a 4-1 lead at the end of the second period.

The Blazers attempted a comeback with two goals in quick succession in the third. However, James Hilsendager and Dallon Wilton responded with a goal each for the Rockets.

A final goal from the Blazers with just seconds on the clock made the final score 6-4.

Kelowna will host Kamloops again for a rematch on Friday at Prospera Place.

This was the Rockets second game of the preseason. On Saturday they lost to the Victoria Royals 5-4 in overtime.

The Rocket’s regular season kicks off on Sept. 22 when they host the Blazers at Prospera Place.
