IIU investigation looking into reports of domestic assault by RCMP officer

Manitoba’s civilian police watchdog is investigating reports of an RCMP officer involved in a “domestic assault”.

A complaint to RCMP “D” Division by a third party said the incident happened on Aug. 31, 2017 between an RCMP officer and a relative.

No injuries were reported but the civilian director of the Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU) said Wednesday that “it is in the public interest for the agency to investigate.”

The IIU is a civilian organization that investigates serious incidents involving police, on or off duty.
