N.B. RCMP investigating attempted theft from grocery store replacing one destroyed by fire

New Brunswick RCMP are asking for the public’s help in its investigation of an attempted theft at a grocery store in Minto, New Brunswick.

According to police, officers were called to a break-in at the temporary Foodland grocery store location on Main Street.

Their investigation found that thieves had attempted to remove a safe by cutting through the floor, but they were unsuccessful.

No other items were taken.

The temporary Minto Foodland is supposed to serve as a stop-gap after the small town’s only grocery store was destroyed in a fire in June.

Fire departments from as far away as Fredericton were called to the scene to battle the flames.
