Lululemon yoga pants yanked

It wouldn’t be a stretch to say yoga pants are Lululemon’s best known and most popular product.

But the clothing chain has had to take the form fitting garment off store shelves in Winnipeg and across the country for reasons that could best be described as cheeky.

“They are see through, totally see through,” said Wendy Lagrou, who recently tried on a pair of the pants.

Lululemon’s latest shipment of its wildly popular black yoga pants are showing off more than customers are comfortable with.

They’re too sheer and have been recalled.

In a statement the company says its working closely with its manufacturer to find out just what happened to this latest batch. It is also telling customers to brace for a shortage of their popular black workout pants.

Shares of the yoga clothing company dropped as 17 per cent of its women’s pants stock was pulled off shelves.

In the end, this may actually being good karma.

“Their target market is young females, probably 18 to 35 years old,” said Lindsay Meredith, a marketing professor at Simon Fraser University. “Risqué is in right now. This may do wonderful things for getting the name out there and getting that target market in that store.”

Lululemon will refund pants bought after March 1.
