He has just completed a three-year term as the first vice president of the 41,000-member teacher’s union and officially takes over from retiring BCTF president Susan Lambert on July 1.
Iker says a key objective during his term is reaching a fair collective agreement that restores class-size and class-composition guarantees.
Acclaimed to the position of first vice-president is Vancouver teacher Glen Hansman, who currently serves as the union’s second vice-president.
Delegates also elected Quesnel teacher Teri Mooring as second vice-president.
