Bruce Springsteen is taking up residency on Broadway this fall.
In October, the singer will be taking over the Walter Kerr Theater in New York for an eight-week run of solo performances, the New York Times reports.

The theatre, which holds just under 1,000 people, will provide an experience that’s “as personal and intimate as possible,” Springsteen said.
“I chose Broadway for this project because it has the beautiful old theatres which seemed like the right setting for what I have in mind,” Springsteen said in a statement. “In fact, with one or two exceptions, the 960 seats of the Walter Kerr Theater is probably the smallest venue I’ve played in the last 40 years.”
“All of it together,” Mr. Springsteen said, “is in pursuit of my constant goal to provide an entertaining evening and to communicate something of value.”
“Bruce has had this specific idea in mind since last December. It came into focus slowly and then all at once last January,” said Springsteen’s manager Jon Landau in a statement.
Word of Springsteen’s plans for a Broadway show first leaked in June, with the NY Post reporting a source as saying, “He wants to play a smaller house. He wants to try something more intimate, and he likes the idea of being on Broadway.”

Springsteen on Broadway will run Tuesday to Saturday each week at the venue, which previously hosted Amelie: The Musical. Previews start Oct. 3, with the official opening set for Oct. 12 and running until Nov. 26.
Fans who want tickets for the show will have until Aug. 27 to register, with tickets going on sale Aug. 30. Prices will range from $75 to $850.
