Two Winnipeg suspects charged with kidnapping

WINNIPEG – A man and a woman have been arrested after two victims were allegedly beaten, robbed, and then kidnapped.

Police said on June 29 two men, 18 and 25-years-old, went to a house in the 300 block of Aberdeen Ave.

Once inside police said the pair were allegedly beaten and robbed, and then forced into a van at gunpoint.

They were driven outside of Winnipeg and dropped at Springfield Road, near highway 207.

Police located them several hours later.

That same night police arrested Brooke Cameron Daniels, 21, on Aberdeen Ave.

Trevor Thomas Chief, 24, was arrested a few days later.

Both face multiple charges including kidnapping, robbery with a firearm, and possession of a prohibited weapon.

Police said they’re investigating the possibility drugs were involved.

“The nature of the charges highlight why drugs are such a serious issue, not only for us…but for the victims and the community,” Cst. Rob Carver said.
