A multi-vehicle collision near Tottenham has sent six people to hospital.
According to Ontario Provincial Police, there were three vehicles involved in the accident, which took place on Highway 9 near 10th Side road in New Tecumseth around 6:46 p.m. on Saturday.
OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt says that one vehicle crossed over into the opposing lane of oncoming traffic and as a result there were two people, the driver and passenger, in that vehicle who were airlifted to a trauma centre in critical condition.
There were also two other people in the same vehicle who were taken to a local hospital and two others from another vehicle that were also sent to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The collision reconstruction team was called to the scene and were on the scene for several hours.
Officers are asking for anyone who may have witnessed the crash to come forward and assist with the investigation.
