Toronto police reported that on Saturday an officer was assaulted while trying to arrest a man wanted in connection with an assault investigation.
That morning, a 69-year-old man had been walking near the intersection of Queen Street East and Coady Avenue, when he was approached by another man by whom he was assaulted.

The victim sustained a number of abrasions as a result of what police said was an unprovoked attack. The alleged assailant then fled, however some time later, police discovered the suspect aboard a TTC bus.
According to police, the suspect assaulted the officer before making his escape. The officer sustained minor injuries.
