Open burning in Black Mountain Park

Don’t be alarmed if you see smoke in Kelowna’s Black Mountain area.

The Regional District of Central Okanagan says a controlled burn is underway in a portion of the Black Mountain Regional Park.

It says crews are burning debris collected as part of a five-hectare fuel modification project in the park.

“The fuel management project is part of the ongoing effort to prepare it for future access,” Regional District spokesman Bruce Smith said.

The park remains closed to the public.

Open burning will also be taking place in Rose Valley Regional Park in West Kelowna.
