Montreal police ask public’s help in sexual assault case

MONTREAL – Police are seeking the public’s assistance in finding a suspect involved in a sexual assault in downtown Montreal.

Christopher Norman Jost, aged 46, is wanted by the Montreal police and Correctional Services Canada, under a Canada-wide arrest warrant.

In the late afternoon on Saturday, January 5, a 19-year-old student was taking photos of a church at the corner of Bishop and Ste. Catherine Street, when she was approached by Jost.

He lured her into the building – for which he had a key – and then locked the doors and took the victim to the basement, where she was assaulted.

The young woman was then released and she contacted police.

Jost is 6’2″ and weighs 220 pounds. He has blue eyes and short dark blonde hair.

At the time of the assault, he was wearing a short beige winter coat.

Jost speaks English and French and could be in the downtown area of Montreal.

He walks with a limp and uses a cane or walker.

Police consider him to be emotionally unstable and aggressive.
