Across from MTS Centre, Edgar Rascon is breathing a sigh of relief. The owner of La Bamba Restaurant was preparing to trim workers’ shifts and cut back the location’s hours until he heard a deal between the NHL and the players was reached.

Zak Rubin at River City Sports said sales of Jets merchandise slowed down over the last few months but he is preparing for that to change.

“We are looking at adding extra staff,” he told Global News.

Rubin said he is waiting for the game schedule so he can make sure his stores are properly staffed during home games.

The league schedule is expected to be release within a few days.
