CHARLOTTETOWN – The Mounties in P.E.I. say charges are pending against a man accused of possessing more than 10 cases of illegal cigarettes.
An arrest was made after police conducted searches at two residences in Charlottetown.

The searches represented the culmination of a three-month investigation, code-named Operation Lava.
Police say the cases of illicit smokes contained more than 100,000 cigarettes with an estimated value pegged at $34,000.
Investigators say they also seized two vehicles.
Charges are expected under the Excise Act, P.E.I. Tobacco Tax Act, Highway Traffic Act and the Criminal Code.
