SASKATOON – The adult unit at the Irene and Leslie Dubé Centre for Mental Health in Saskatoon will remain closed to visitors and admissions after two more reported cases of a gastrointestinal illness.
Symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea began appearing last Tuesday and so far twelve people have been infected.
Friends and family members of infected patients are able to contact them by phone and new admissions are being sent elsewhere.

The Saskatoon Health Region (SHR) says the illness strikes people quickly and is easily transmitted.
To reduce the risk of transmission or acquiring a gastrointestinal illness, SHR is urging patients and employees to exercise proper hand-washing hygiene.
According to health officials, the centre will need to go four days without a new case before it can reopen to visitors. The earliest the facility can reopen to admissions and visitors would be Wednesday.
At the Parkland Terrace long-term care facility in Shellbrook, Saskatchewan, visitor restrictions are in place after five residents came down with symptoms of a respiratory illness last week.
Officials with the Prince Albert Parkland Health Region are asking visitors to reschedule visits until the outbreak is over.
