Update: Ontario man charged for armed robberies in Saskatoon

SASKATOON – A 38-year-old Ontario man is facing numerous charges after armed robberies at the STC bus terminal and a liquor store in Saskatoon. 

Last Wednesday, police were called to a liquor store in the 1700 block of Idylwyld Drive North around 10:30 p.m.

A male employee said a masked man pointed what appeared to be a firearm at him and demanded cash and cigarettes.

The suspect fled and the employee did not receive any injuries.

On Saturday night, another incident involving a masked man with a handgun occurred, this time the STC bus depot was robbed. 

A few minutes later, a patrol officer spotted a man matching the description of the robber. When the officer approached the man, he attempted to flee and a fight ensued.

He was subdued and taken into custody after a canine unit and a sergeant arrived. 

A replica pellet handgun was found on the man. 

The Ontario man’s charges include armed robbery, wearing a mask during the commission of an offence and weapons-related offences.

The suspect was expected to appear in provincial court today.
