REGINA – Lane Scheidl had a goal and an assist to help the Regina Pats beat the visiting Brandon Wheat Kings 3-1 in Western Hockey League action Sunday night.
Regina (18-21-4) also got a goal and an assist from Morgan Klimchuk and the eventual game winner from captain Colton Jobke. The win extends the Pats’ winning streak to five games.
Scheidl, the Pats’ leading goal scorer, has 22 on the season. Next in line is Klimchuk with 21. Both are sitting at 49 points.

Brandon (14-24-4) got its only goal from Tim McGauley, with his 11th of the season.
Assisting were Richard Nejezchleb and Eric Roy, who is headed to the CHL’s Top Prospects game Jan. 16 in Halifax. The six-foot-three product of Beauval, Sask., was recently rated ninth among WHL players by the NHL central scouting service.
The Wheat Kings, who are without top scorer Alessio Bertaggia, have lost their last four games. Bertaggia played for Switzerland at the 2013 World Junior Hockey Championship and is expected to return to Brandon next week.
The Wheat Kings went one for three on the power play and the Pats one for five.
Regina’s Matt Hewitt (11-15-3) made 25 saves while Corbin Boes (9-18-2) stopped 31 shots in the loss.
