Police in Newfoundland say 12-year-old girl charged with weapon assault

CORNER BROOK, N.L. – A 12-year-old Corner Brook, N.L. girl remains in custody after being charged with assault with a weapon.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary says it responded to a complaint on Curling Street in Corner Brook on Saturday.

Police say the girl is accused of attempting to assault a woman with a knife.

The girl is charged with assault with a weapon, breach of an undertaking and breach of probation and is scheduled to appear in youth court in Corner Brook on Monday.

Police say no one was hurt in the incident.
