Tropical Storm Sonamu will move westward Monday just off the south of Vietnam and Cambodia, resulting in scattered showers and thunderstorms in the southern parts of those countries. But the storm is expected to weaken.
In northern Asia, high pressure over China and the Korean Peninsula will result in dry but cool conditions. Beijing will be partly cloudy with highs near 2 C, while Shanghai will also see partly cloudy skies with highs near 7 C. Seoul will be even colder with highs of -6 C. There will be scattered showers in parts of northern Japan, but Tokyo will be partly cloudy and dry with highs near 7 C.
In Australia, a trough of low pressure lingering over Western Australia will produce widespread showers and thunderstorms over the southwest. Sydney will remain partly cloudy with highs approaching 27 C.
