A 53-year-old man is dead after he was hit while walking on a gravel highway near Split Lake, Man., over the weekend.
On Saturday around 7:45 p.m., Thompson RCMP responded to a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian on Provincial Road 280, about 18 kilometres west of Split Lake.
Officers said the pedestrian was walking northbound in the middle of the gravel highway when he was struck by a northbound pickup truck. It was dark at the time of the crash.
The 53-year-old man from Split Lake was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The 55-year-old woman driver of the pickup truck, from Split Lake, and the passengers in the vehicle were not injured in the collision.
The driver of the pickup truck was sober.
RCMP are continuing to investigate.
