Calgary police investigating 2 possible cases of child luring

Calgary police have released descriptions of a suspect and a vehicle after two possible child luring incidents Monday.

In a news release Tuesday afternoon, police said the first incident occurred around 8 a.m. Monday, Dec. 12 in Tuscany, and the second incident was later that afternoon in the northeast community of Coventry.

Police said in the first incident, a girl was walking along Tuscany Ravine Road N.W. when she was approached by a white van. They said the driver of the van offered to drive the girl to school but the girl declined and continued walking. She told her parents about it later, and they contacted police.

According to the release, the second incident took place around 4:20 p.m. that afternoon.

“Another girl was walking in the alley between Covehaven Court and Covehaven View N.E., when she was approached by a white van. The driver began speaking with her and the girl ran away.”

The girl in the second incident was able to provide police with a description of the driver. The man is described as between 20 to 30 years old with long, light brown hair, a heavy-set build and was wearing prescription glasses.

Police said the van was a white, utility van with tinted black windows, and no business logos on the vehicle.
