Canadians still hanging on to their recalled Samsung Galaxy Note 7’s will soon have their phones rendered almost entirely useless.
Samsung announced in a press release Wednesday plans to “deactivate service” for the recalled devices by Monday.
“Functional limitations, including a limitation on the battery charge, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth disablement will be implemented as early as December 12th, 2016,” the press release reads.
“Effective December 15th, 2016, customers still using the Note7 will no longer be able to connect to any Canadian mobile network services to make calls, use data or send text messages.”

Samsung goes on to “urge” any customers still using the phone to return it for an exchange or refund.
American users are facing a similar situation; there, Samsung plans to release an update that will prevent the devices from charging.
Samsung ended production of the Galaxy Note 7 devices in October after reports of its battery exploding or catching fire.
