WINNIPEG — People travelling on foot in Winnipeg feel like they’re being left to fend for themselves.
The City of Winnipeg has put all hands on deck to manage the roads following the first winter storm of the season.

However, pedestrians told Global News they didn’t feel like the sidewalks were getting the same priority.
Wayne Smith has a walker because of two injured knees. But he said he had to carry his walker for half of his trek on the sidewalk down Osborne Street.
“How am I supposed to walk a walker down here,” said Smith.
The City of Winnipeg said sidewalks are as much of a priority as roadways. Sidewalks on a Priority 1 street are supposed to be cleared at the same time as the road.

But, many pedestrians said that’s not exactly what they’ve seen.
Coun. Janice Lukes said everyone needs to remember that this is a snowstorm where all hands are on deck, but once they clear the roads and sidewalks, it snows again.
