WILMOT TOWNSHIP, Ont. – Provincial police say a woman was killed and her infant was badly injured in a crash on Sunday night in Wilmot Township, just west of Kitchener, Ont.

They say a 29-year old woman was killed and her two-month old baby was critically injured in a collision Sunday evening on Highway 7.

Investigators say the woman, identified as Susana Dumitru, was pronounced dead in hospital, and that her baby named George was airlifted to SickKids Hospital with life-threatening injuries. There’s been no further word on the child’s condition.

Police say the two were passengers in a vehicle that was struck from behind.

Two others in the car, the woman’s husband and mother-in-law, suffered minor injuries.

Police say 26-year-old Ahmed Darwish of Kitchener, Ont., who was driving the other vehicle involved in the collision, faces multiple charges that include impaired driving causing death and impaired driving causing bodily harm.
