An area of dense fog formed over parts of central and south east Alberta Monday night, prompting Environment Canada to issue a fog advisory. As of Tuesday morning, it remained in effect for much of central Alberta.
“Dense fog has formed over portions of central and southern Alberta this morning,” the advisory warned.
“Patchy freezing drizzle may also occur at times. Visibilities are expected to remain poor until late this morning.”
An advisory for the Edmonton area and regions to west, north and east of the city were cancelled early Tuesday morning.
Environment Canada issues fog advisories when near-zero visibility is expected or already occurring.
As of 5:00 a.m. Tuesday, the following areas were included in the advisory:
- Drayton Valley
- Devon
- Rimbey
- Pigeon Lake
- Drumheller
- Three Hills
- Hanna
- Coronation
- Oyen
- Leduc
- Camrose
- Wetaskiwin
- Tofield
- Red Deer
- Ponoka
- Innisfail
- Stettler
- Rocky Mountain House
- Caroline
- Airdrie
- Cochrane
- Olds
- Sundre
