RCMP said they used a spike belt to stop a stolen vehicle in northern Saskatchewan and are now trying to locate the car’s passengers.
At 9:30 p.m. CT on Friday, police received multiple reports of an erratic driver in the community of Stanley Mission. One complaint stated that the vehicle almost ran over a pedestrian.

Stanley Mission RCMP located the car on Highway 915 and tried to make a traffic stop, but the driver fled at a high rate of speed. Police chose not to pursue due to public safety concerns.
Meanwhile, police determined that the 2013 Ford Fiesta had been reported stolen out of Prince Albert.
Shortly after, La Ronge RCMP were able to intercept the car on Highway 102 and successfully deployed a spike belt which left the vehicle inoperable.
The people inside the car fled and have not been located.
