The Lethbridge Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Business Revitalization Zone have launched a “Get a selfie with an elf” campaign to encourage people to shop local.

Shoppers can win a prize if they spot one of Santa’s helpers downtown, snap a picture and post it to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #YQElf.

If you’re determined to find elves, take a look at the “elf hunt map”.

The campaign kicks off with more Christmas fun Friday, Nov. 18.

The 16th annual Bright Lights Festival starts at 6:30 p.m. in Galt Gardens. People are encouraged to dress for the weather, as there are many outdoor activities like hay rides, hot chocolate and Christmas movies.

The event is used to amp up the Christmas shopping season. Some local shops are also participating in Midnight Madness, offering shoppers a late-night experience.
