SASAKTOON – Millions of dollars are needed to fix Saskatoon’s crumbling roads.
That’s according to a report from administration and finance at city hall.
The report says $25-million a year is needed to fix streets in the city, more than $15-million above the current base funding.

Without other revenue streams, it could mean an additional $292 in annual property taxes for the average homeowner.
Saskatoon Mayor Don Atchison says having residents fill the gap is unreasonable.
“That would be a tremendous stress so we have to look at phasing it in,” said Atchison.
The city is looking at other funding options.
“There potentially could be federal or provincial programs,” said Rob Frank, manager of strategic services for the city.
Frank says another option the city is looking at is a levy on homeowners who have their roadways upgraded.
