RCMP in Nova Scotia say a homeowner discharged a firearm following an attempted home invasion this weekend.
Police say a man attempted to force his way into a home on Pig Loop Drive in Chester at around 12:18 a.m. Sunday.
After failing to gain access to the residence, the male suspect fled on foot. That’s when police say the homeowner ran after the suspect and fired a shot.
Officials are encouraging people not to take the law into their own hands, despite the circumstances.
“Call police right away if there is any issue,” Cpl. Wayne Sutherland said.
No one was injured during the ordeal. The homeowner’s firearm has been seized by police and the investigation into the attempted home invasion continues.
At this time, the suspect in relation to the home invasion is still on the loose and police are unsure if it was a random act.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
