Kelowna Rockets defeat Vancouver Giants

The Kelowna Rockets beat the Vancouver Giants 6-4 in Langley Friday night.

Vancouver was the first to score, seven minutes into the game, but Calvin Thurkauf answered back just three minutes later for Kelowna.

Nick Merkley extended his goal streak to four games, putting the Rockets ahead 2-1.

Vancouver tied the game 2-2 late in the first period.

Shots from Tomas Soustal and Braydyn Chizen put the Rockets up 4-2.

The Giants were able to fight back in the second period with a goal from Alec Baer, making it 4-3.

After the Vancouver Giants tied the game in the third, Kole Lind scored his seventh goal of the season.

Nick Merkley found the empty net to seal the deal, and the Rockets took the win, 6-4.

The Rockets play again Saturday night when the Medicine Hat Tigers come to town.
