Construction worker killed after wall collapses in east-end Toronto

A worker who was taken to hospital after a wall collapsed at a construction site in east-end Toronto Monday has died.

Toronto police said the incident happened just before 9 a.m. on Pine Crescent near MacLean Avenue just north of Queen Street East in The Beach neighbourhood.

It is believed the worker was building a garage at a residence when the wall collapsed.

Toronto Fire Services was called to free the worker.

Toronto paramedics said a male in his 40s was transported to hospital in life-threatening condition.

The Ontario Ministry of Labour confirmed Monday afternoon that the worker later died from his injuries. Two inspectors have been assigned to investigate the cause of the wall collapse.
