It’s not just you – Vancouver has been extremely soggy this month.
October in Metro Vancouver has been much wetter than normal, with 25 out of 28 days so far seeing precipitation. In total, just over 180 mm of rain has fallen and the month isn’t even quite over.
The normal rain level is 120.8 mm for the month.
Unfortunately – or fortunately, depending on your perspective – this month wasn’t one for the record books. The year 1975 holds the record for the wettest October with 287.5 mm.
Judging by this weekend’s forecast, it doesn’t appear Vancouver will crack the top spot. But we might break another record: the most days in October with rain. That record stands at 26.
On Vancouver Island, Victoria had its second-wettest October with 217 mm of rain. The rainiest was October 2003 with 318.8 mm.
Usually, the city sees 111.7 mm of rain in the month.
As for temperatures, Vancouver was right on normal with an average daily high of 13.9 C, compared with the historical average of 13.5 C. Victoria was also right around normal with an average daily high of 13.9 C compared to the historical average of 14.2 C.
